Finding Inspiration in Every Mile
“It doesn’t matter how fast or how far you’re going. If you’re putting on your shoes and going out for a run, you are a runner, you are in that club.”
— Kara Goucher, Olympic long-distance runner and bronze medalist of the Boston Marathon
Our Story
Running... few enjoy it, most despise it, and it's typically the punishment for most athletes. For a select few though we're crazy enough to call this thing OUR sport and love every minute of it. It's grueling, sometimes not fun, exhausting, but it's always worth it in the end! We started Pirate Run Club because each of us know the physical and mental benefits running/long distance running drills into us. It takes a certain kind of dedication and determination to go out in 100+ blistering heat to go run some miles. It takes a certain kind of grit and stubbornness to not let a little cold weather talk you into staying inside, instead throwing on the layers and running in the cold/rain/snow. Few things will try to break you more than that last 150-200 meters in a race where you're exhausted and have absolutely nothing left, but must dig down and fight to pass other runners or prevent getting passed at the end.
This is our story, this is why we do what we do, and these are the traits we hope we can instill in our youth early on so that they spend 5, 10, 15+ years fostering these characteristics to propel them even further in life!
Every summer we have our Summer Endurance Training session where we focus on kids of all skill levels to help them grow/maintain their endurance to give them a leg up on their fall sports. In our Fall Training session, we prepare for races and compete in USATF/AAU races throughout Indiana and Northern Kentucky.
We are a 501(c)(3) that operates entirely on donations and support from our community, let us know if you or your business would be interested in giving a donation/sponsorship!
